End-of-Life Planning & Death Doula

Purpose of the Consultation

Death is hard for all involved. But it can also be a peaceful, sacred time, filled with love and fulfillment. As your End of Life and Death Doula, I will be your guardian to a peaceful passing.

A. Opening the Conversation

Purpose: build trust, explain role, and set expectations

  1. What made you call me today, and what are you hoping support from a death doula will look like?

  2. Have you worked with a doula or similar support person before?

  3. What are your top priorities or concerns as you think about this stage of life?

  4. Is there a preferred way for you to communicate (e.g., gentle, direct, spiritual language, practical focus)?

  5. How did you hear about my services?

Understanding the Situation & Care Context

  1. Are you seeking support for yourself, or on behalf of someone else?

  2. Where is the person currently receiving care (home, hospice, hospital, continuing care)?

    – If in hospice/palliative care, how has communication with the care team been?

  3. What medical diagnoses or prognoses (if any) have been shared with you or your loved one?

Note: Death doulas in Alberta are unregulated practitioners — I provide non-medical, non-legal support, emotional presence, communication facilitation, and planning guidance, but I do not diagnose, or prescribe, medications. I will use plant therapy including essential oils, topicals and diffusers as well as personal care, comfort, companionship and education. We can tailor your services to meet you where you need and adjust as you desire. I understand things can change quickly and I will adjust as you see fit.

About Me

My name is Erica Ann, I have 3 grown children, 4 grand-kids, and 2 dogs. I have lived in Alberta my whole life,  growing up in Calgary and moving to Lethbridge in my 20's.  I have a passion in providing comprehensive, compassionate care to vulnerable individuals. I discovered this passion while working with adults with developmental disabilities for almost 20years.  After supporting my own father in his End of Life transition, I found this to be the most vulnerable a person can be and there are not near enough supports available for this. I have decided that I would like to continue this journey with the citizens in my own little corner of the world.
